Cronulla vs Japan

Our club has again been chosen to host an international Water Polo side at Sutherland Leisure Centre.

The coming Monday our National League Womens side will be playing against the visiting Japanese National Womens team. Details are:

Monday 11th March
Game will start at 6.30pm
Dress Code - Cronulla Shirts  

It will be great to witness a sea of Cronulla blue shirts supporting our girls as they continue their push to win back to back National League Titles.

Under 14 State Championships

Congratulations to our 14A boys who yesterday became the Under 14 State Champions after defeating Wests 11-8 in the final. I know Kerry Turner (coach) and all the parents and supporters are very proud of their effort.

Also congratulations to our 14A girls who also made the final but fell to a very strong Drummoyne side. We know Brew Falson (coach) is looking forward to meeting up with them again during the Metro comp and the upcoming National Championships in April. Just like our boys, the parents and supporters couldn't be prouder,

Our two B sides also performed admirably over the weekend with the girls just missing out on a quarter final birth (going down 4-3 in the qualifier) and our boys defeating the strong Hunter side during their round games.

Girls Under 18 State Champs

We will be holding a trial next Monday night, 11th February from 6.00pm to 7.30pm, for all players interested in trialling for a spot for the Girls U18 State Championships to be held from March 8-10 in Sydney.

Given the introduction of Bec’s development squad and the number of U18 eligible players’ currently in our National League squad, we will be sending 2 teams to the Girls State Championships.

The trials are open to all girls eligible for U18’s, including U16’s.

To be considered for selection you must attend the trial.

Please be there by no later than 5.45pm on Monday so Bec can have a chat and get you ready to go at 6.00pm.

Sharks star in 20 & Under Nationals

NSW Men attack WA late in the game.

 NSW 20 and Under Women's and Men's teams successfully defended their title last weekend at SOPAC Homebush. Many Cronulla Sharks featured in both wins. The Women's team turned around a midweek result to account for Queensland 8-3. In this team were Shark's Maddi Schmid, Michaela Davies, Jess Brooks and Lena Mihailovic  The Men's team also turned around a midweek result by coming from behind to defeat a very strong WA 9-8 . The Men's team was well represented by four Sharks players Nic Brooks, Sam Cocokios, Blake Buckley and Uga Mihailovic.

 There were many highlights during the week for the Sharks players but special mention goes to Maddi Schmid for being named MVP of the tournament. Besides scoring a bagful of goals including a hat trick in the final she played nearly every minute of every game inspiring her team mates by example. To top off the week Maddi was named in the Born '93 Australian Squad along with Michaela Davies and Jess Brooks to play in the Junior Worlds later this year. Sam Cocokios was also named in the Men's Born '93 Team. Congratulations Sharkies for doing your State and Club proud.
